How to Get an X-Ray Certification

The first step in how to get an x-ray certification is to complete the necessary training. At the very minimum, you will need to complete one year of training in the field, but most educational programs require completing a two-year program. If you wish to obtain a bachelor''s degree in the field, on the other hand, you should expect to complete at least four years of education before you can get your x-ray certification.

After you have completed the necessary coursework, you can look into how to get an x-ray certification. Although no state requires x-ray technicians to obtain certification, becoming certified go a long way toward helping you obtain a job. Voluntary x-ray technician certification is available through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). In order to be eligible for certification, you need to graduate from a program that is approved by the ARRT and you must successfully complete an examination. To maintain your x-ray technician certification, you need to complete 24 hours of continuing education every two years.
